18 May 2026 - Arrived at Elkhart Campground

We departed Camp Atterbury FamCamp this morning at 0817 hrs this morning and headed up I-65 then around Indianapolis and north on State Highway 31 to Elkhart IN. At 1225 hrs we arrived at the Elkhart Campground (Stop #7) traveling 215 miles today with one stop.  We had decent weather on the trip but we could tell the wind was picking up and weather was approaching.

As we arrived there were campers in front of us waiting to check in and one or two stacked up behind us.  We made our way to our camp site and passed probably 50 or more Alliance coaches here already.  Many of our Alliance friends are in this group or will be rolling in sometime during this week prior to the rally next week.

Plenty of grassy area between campers

Our 310RL all set up and ready to go.

The Elkhart Campground is huge with hundreds of full hookup camping spots plus cabins for rent.  This is where we had the first two Alliance rally's before the numbers grew so large that they had to move it to the Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds Campground in Goshen IN.  That is where we will be moving Saturday.  We no sooner got set up and neighbors started coming over to introduce themselves.  We met Bob and Judy from California, Don who used to live in Pella IA, and Gary who was camping near us at Camp Atterbury.

The weather we had been watching finally rolled in and gave us an opportunity to chill out and have a little lunch.  After a break, we headed out on a walk around the campground and that walk turned into about three hours of talking with Alliance owners and a lot of laughs.  Our great friend Bill Martin, the Alliance Vice President of Customer Experience, came by and said hello to everyone!

That's about it for today.  .WE have plenty of time this week to do some shopping and prepare for the rally next week.  Grandson Lucas is coming home (Battle Creek MI) on leave this Friday  and so we are hoping to see him too.
